This weeks spotlight player is “KK” Keneth Alexander. He is our 6’6 multi versitle wingman. KK has played every position except for the point guard. According to coach Gordon Beresford,”KK is our most consistant offensive player. He has came up with game winning block shots along with key 3pt shots to close games out. Without KK we would not have had a 20 win season.”. Going into the playoffs KK will be a key player to watch. He is an exciting player who plays above the rim and can spread the floor with his outside shooting. The Matrix are very proud to have a player like KK and love to see him excel on the court.

This weeks spotlight player is on the Matrix defensive stopper Josh Dozier. According to coach Ben Darling, “Josh is the most underated player in this conference. He is our defensive stopper.” Josh has been put on every teams best player. It doesn’t matter if it’s the point guard or the center, Josh will guard whoever he needs to. Along with his defense, his offense isn’t bad either. He’s had excellent games against Stockton with 15pts, 5rebs, and 5 steals. Against Sacramento he had 20pts, 10 rebs, and 2 steals, adding a monster 15 rebound game against Chico. Coach Gordon says that “Without Josh, we would not be ranked 7th in the nation, Josh is one of those players you can’t put a value on, he is that good.”

2010 became the inaugural season for the Bay Area Matrix. The season was filled with a variety of highlights, ending in a Northern California Division Championship. This team was ranked in the top 25 in the nation all year. A variety of players received honors at the end of the season. Selected to the first team all-conference were Jamar Holloway and Will Walker. Second team honors went to Alex Okafor, and third team went to Marian Thurman. Alex Okafor was also selected as the defensive player of the year. To finalize the honors, the trio of coaches( Gordon & James Beresford, Ben Darling) received coach of the year. Not bad for a first year team.
