Expectations

So what is expected of this year’s team? According to Gordon Beresford, he expects nothing less than another championship this year. There will be a lot of new faces on the team along with a mix of great new talent. All of the games will be played at Diablo Valley Junior College in Pleasant Hill. It is a great city located in the valley near Walnut Creek and Concord. Their season starts in November. The Matrix are excited to bring a professional basketball team to the wonderful people in this area.

Bay Area Matrix recap/future.

2010 became the inaugural season for the Bay Area Matrix. The season was filled with a variety of highlights, ending in a Northern California Division Championship. This team was ranked in the top 25 in the nation all year. A variety of players received honors at the end of the season. Selected to the first team all-conference were Jamar Holloway and Will Walker. Second team honors went to Alex Okafor, and third team went to Marian Thurman. Alex Okafor was also selected as the defensive player of the year. To finalize the honors, the trio of coaches( Gordon & James Beresford, Ben Darling) received coach of the year. Not bad for a first year team.

Mid Season Update 12-5

     The Bay Area Matrix are back to defend their Northern California Division championship. After this last sundays game against the Sacramento Heatwave, the Matrix are 4-1 and currently on a 4 game winning streak. The Matrix are playing their home games at Diablo Valley Junior College in Pleasant Hill. Currently the Matrix have a variety of local bay area talent. One of the players, played at DVC and has been on a tear as of late. His name is Marion Thurmond and if you look up on the wall of fame inside the gymnasium, you will see it up there. His last game against the Richmond Rockets, he recorded a 21 pt and 18 reb game. According to head coach Gordon Beresford,” I am very excited about this team and expect to do very well this year. It will be very exciting basketball for the fans this year to come watch.” The first 100 fans to show up at the next home game on Sunday December 11th will be in for free. Tipoff time is at 6:30.
